Donald Burgess Obituary

Donald P. Burgess, age 75, of Maryville, died at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 19, 1939, in Simmesport, La., the son of the late Thomas and Verdie Bordelon Burgess.
He married Linna Arreola on Dec. 6, 1962. She preceded him in death in October, 2000.
He is survived by two daughters: P. Ariel (James Serti) Burgess of Edwardsville and Lisa (Wendell) LeCroy of Glen Carbon; two granddaughters: Linnea Burati of Edwardsville and Louisa LeCroy of Glen Carbon; a companion: Betty Youngman of Collinsville: two brothers Alvin (Annalee) Mose of Melville, La., and Carl Mose and one sister: Elaine (Salvador) Tummenello of Morganza, La.
Mr. Burgess was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and also retired as a mechanical engineer from Our Lady of the Snows in 2004.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon.
Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11.
Interment will be in the Sunset Hill Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to the Metro-East Humane Society.
