Robert Doring

DORING, ROBERT Robert D. "Bob" Doring, 78, of Midland, died Saturday evening, October 13, 2012, after a lengthy battle with many health issues. He was born on July 23, 1934 in Kalamazoo, son of the late Karl and Margaret (Dunford) Doring. Bob was a graduate of the Kendall School of Design. Bob married the former Sandra Stover on January 23, 1960 in Grand Rapids. He worked in Creative Services at McKay Press from February 1963 until January of 1987, and then for Pendall Printing and retired from there. Bob served with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Midland American Legion Berryhill Post #165, was an avid gunsmith, enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, gardening and spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra; one daughter, Marcia Balcirak of Midland; one brother, Michael (Mary) Doring of Colorado. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Joanna (David) Waun and Kaitlyn; a nephew, Jeff Havens of Laingsberg; by his brother-in-law, James (Kathy) Stover of Belmont; an aunt Erma Tiffany in Florida; and by many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by one sister, JoAnn Havens. In honoring Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the charity of their choice in Bob's memory.
