Sofia Larson Obituary
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Whitted Funeral Chapel, followed by a mass at 7 p.m. at St. William's Catholic Church in Shelby. A celebration of her life is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby High School gym, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
God danced the day Sofie was born, on May 9, 2000. Sofie embraced life with a zest and passion that few of such a young age could. Her inner sparkle, her teasing and practical jokes, the ability to light up a room with a huge engaging smile, were known in school, up and down Main Street, throughout our community and anywhere she went. She truly danced her way through life. Sofie was so incredibly creative – out of any box – and was fascinated by everything. Her mind was sharp as a tack and her wit was quick. She kept us all on our toes. Her big heart blossomed with love in every relationship and she was the absolute joy and treasure of her loving mom, dad, sister, huge family and friends of every age.
Sofie's loves were the music her Grandma Leona instilled, rock collecting, camping and boating at Tiber, swim team, sleepovers, dancing, singing, volleyball, playing cards and games of all kinds - especially at the Heritage Center, watching "Storage Wars" and golfing with Mom, Dad and Britta, and searching out lost balls in the reservoirs. On any given day you could find Sofie singing and swinging in her own back yard.
Sofie is survived by her dad and mom, Jim and Bridget; her sister Britta; Denny dog; grandma, Leona Larson; uncles and aunts, John and Tina Hagman, Pat and Jeanne McDonough, Dale and Cindy Doane, Jerry and Nyla Larson, and Mike Larson (Judy), all of Shelby, Charlotte and Tenny Doney of Billings, Dave and Judy Dunk of Texas, Lila and Lee Scholl of Washington, Lynn McNamer of Missoula, Mike McNamer of California and John and Susan McNamer of Canada; and numerous beloved cousins, extended family and friends who are family.
Memorials are suggested to a personal cause of Sofie's – St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

I ran across Sofia's beautiful face while on the internet researching obituaries. I cannot go without mentioning the impression her smile has made, and the great loss I feel for this child whom I have never even met. Clearly, the world suffered a loss the day she left us- my condolences.

I grew up in Shelby and did not know sophia but know many of her cousins and relatives. I have an 11 yr old and can't imagine the pain you are enduring right now.
