Edward Walton Hilburn, 81, husband of Betty Stevenson Hilburn, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

Born in Calhoun Falls, SC, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Pauline Wilson Hilburn.

Mr. Hilburn served in the United States Navy from 1946-1950 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Erskine College. He was a retired technical representative for Avtex Fibers, Inc.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are two daughters, Paula Harrison and Carole Hilburn, both of Atlanta, GA; a son, Steve Hilburn of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Bronson Hilburn of Greenville and Anna Harrison of Atlanta, GA.

Memorials may be made to the Greenville County Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC 29609.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Paula, I am so sorry for your loss. Please extend my sympathy to the rest of your family. My mother, was really good friends and went to Sunday School with your mom and dad. She loved them both. And we went to Middle school and high school together as well as attend St. Mark. I am so sorry.
