Becky, Dave and family, Dick and I were friends for over half a century through so many wonderful, sometimes hilarious, and more than a few sad times. He was always, always there for my family. I'm not so sure that what he did for so many others in this community will ever be fully known, but Dick didn't do those things for recognition, it was just him. Pax Vobiscum my friend. Michael Cupp

Dick played a very important role in the lives of me and my brothers and siblings when we were very young...and so many others...by being our Santa Clause on Christmas Eve year after year at my Grandma's and Grandpa's, Louise and Don Pippert. Speaking for myself, and the youngest, thought he was Santa Clause. As I became older, and learned he wasn't THE Santa Clause (LOL), I remember him dropping by my grandparent's house, just to say 'Hi'. And after Grandpa died, and Gram moved to Florida, he stayed in touch with her.

I don't remember him without a smile. All good memories and smiles. Thank you Dick, Santa Clause, for being a magical and positive part of my life.

Mrs. Holzberger and Family,
May God Comfort you at the time of your loss. Richard was a dedicated man to his Country, County and to his dreams for success. He took great pride in his vocations. Within those vocations came sacrifices from family, so thank you very much for all your dedication to Butler County.

I was so sorry to hear about Dick's passing. He has been a great friend since all of us in the neighborhood ran around together close to 55 years ago and I worked with him at the A&W Root Beer Stand for years. He even played Santa Claus for my daughter when she was very young. Dick was good friends with my daughter's father, Rick Taylor. Sadly, the few times I have seen him lately have been on other sad occasions. I am so sorry about the loss for his family and also for the loss for all of his friends that he leaves behind.

What a nice man! I didn't really know him but he made a lasting impression on me. About 30 years ago when I was 18 or 19, I accidentally locked my keys in my car in front of Elder Beerman. I discovered it after walking a 10 mile walkathon. On top of it all, it was raining like crazy. I was exhausted and drenched! I had no one to help me. I was young and didn't have much money so I couldn't call a locksmith. I walked to the police station in torrential rain. I asked if they could help me. The said they couldn't. About the time I walked out the door, Mr Holzberger pulled up in his cruiser. He asked me what was wrong. When I told him, he took me back to my car and opened the door for me. For some people it wouldn't have been a big deal, but for me at that time in my life, it was huge! I'll never forget it.
