Charles Rosson Obituary

Charles "Chuck" T. Rosson, III was born in San Francisco, August 1, 1935 and passed away peacefully in Roseville, California, August 19, 2012.
Child of Dr. Charles Rosson Jr. and Harriet Brown Rosson, Chuck grew up in Hanford, California before graduating from UC Davis and being accepted into the UCSF Medical School in 1960. While completing his residency in surgery, he served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War.
At Davis, he married and had three children: Mark Rosson, Belinda Kesser, and Michael Rosson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Ann back in 2002 and is survived by his wife Ginnie of twenty-six years, his sister Jane Raventos, his children Mark, Belinda and Michael, his daughter-in-Iaws Trudi and Cari, Ginnie's daughters Trudi Rosson and Lori Conneally, nephew Ross Raventos, cousin Paul Peterson, and close family friend Dr. Mark Riddle. He has eight grandchildren, Chase, Tanner, Haleigh, Sean, Jack, Josselyn, Merek, and Quinn, who will always love and miss their "papa."
Dr. Rosson left San Francisco in 1970, moving the family to Yuba City, California, and for the next 33 years, enjoyed an earnest, popular medical practice in vascular and general surgery. He loved the community and his contribution to health, which lead to his widely respected reputation as a devoted physician and family man by patients and friends alike. He loved hunting, golf, anything with a pair of skis, and was an avid supporter of local school athletics, for which he was affectionately nick named the "Game Doc." He retired from medicine in 2003 and moved to Sun City Roseville, where he resided to his death.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life event and internment will be held at a later date in Hanford at the Grangeville Cemetery. Donations in Chuck's honor and memory may be made to:
Vascular Cures, 555 Price Ave. Ste 180 Redwood City, Ca. 94063 (a research foundation supported by UCSF professors and colleagues)

My condolences to the Rosson family. I only knew "Chuck' for a short time while he was at Eskaton in Roseville. My mother, Katerina Grizzell is also a resident and I would often see Chuck when I came to visit her. He always greeted me with a smile and a firm handshake, looking me directly in the eye. My mother enjoyed talking with him as well. You could easily tell that he was a very caring man. We miss him.

"The Doc" was a force of nature. He was a father, grandfather, friend, role model, doctor, benefactor, golfer, hunter, and over-all good guy. I was fortunate to have spent a significant amount of my life as part of the extended Rosson family and I am a better man for having been one of many taken under Chuck's wing. My thoughts are with Ginnie, Mark, Mike, Belinda, Trudi, Lori, Jane, Ross, Tanner, Chase and their spouses and children. The loss of The Doc will never compare with the loss of Papa, but I think for many of us, he was a father figure we could look up to and will be missed. Respectfully yours, The Butler.

Dr. Rosson will be always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and caring friend to our entire family. We fondly remember the times he sutured our son Tom's baseball lacerations on his kitchen table and remarked how our son had the hands of a surgeon (Tom went on to become a successful dental surgeon). We are saddened by this news. Rest in Peace!

Dr. Rosson, You were the best. My personal nursing career is filled with stories which include you. You saved both my parent's lives. As a young nurse, I feared you but as a mature nurse, I loved, trusted, and admired you. No doctor ever cared more about his patients giving up vacations, sleep, and days off. What higher praise can you give a physician, that he lay down his life for another. Many in this community will remember you with loyal fondness and it will always be said, " Dr. Rosson really cared". Ginny, God bless you with His presence as you journey through this valley.

I used to follow Dr. Rosson around Fremont hospital when I worked in the lab. I was hooked the first time I saw him operate. He is one of the reasons I am a surgeon today.
