Abby and Family,
A belated expression of sympathy is extended to all of you upon your recent loss. We remember "Dutchie" with many happy memories growing up in Windsor, CT; especially the get togethers after the baseball games at Cozy Corner. He was among the first (along with me, Dick Evans,) to graduate from the new Windsor High
School, Class of 1953. "Dutch" was an exceptional, talented and fun loving individual who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Dear Abby, Shiela and family,
I was so sad to hear about Gordie's passing. I'll always remember how Gordie made me feel like a part of your family when I was living alone in West Palm Beach, far away from my family in Pennsylvania. Especially the time when you all put me and my cat Cuddley up during hurricane Andrew... I still remember riding out the storm with all those cats (I think there were at least 6!) and people in the house...playing cards and listening to the wind outside! I felt very safe - I don't know what I would have done without all of you. Gordie was an energetic, kind and loving person...and a great Dad to you Shiela, my best Florida friend...and to all his daughters. I'll really miss him! De Colores! Gordie is home with our Lord...looking down on all of us. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Mary

When I was in 9th grade at PBGHS my science teacher ask everyone in the class to bring in a guest speaker. I asked Roycee if he could speak to the class about what he did out at Pratt. He came into my classroom with stories and photos of aircrafts and even a model of a rocket. He took up the hour answering questions. He was such a great guy. He was the heart of the neighborhood. And I don’t think of the Royce family so much as neighbours but as family. You don’t see many places like Begoina St. or people like Roycee these days. I miss it, and I’ll certainly miss him. Sitting in my bedroom or even in my backyard, I remembering hearing Kevin rattle the horseshoes to signal it was time to play. And just like someone said at the service, “He’d never let you win!” He sure was a ringer. Our thoughts are with his girls. The Miles family loves you and we are keeping you in our thoughts.

In 1979, ten seconds after the moving truck pulled into our new driveway the Royce family walked into our lives. I have so mny wonderful memories of Roycee... Softball, pool parties, cookouts, horseshoes and lets not forget the peeping Tom's...the list goes on.
Abby, Rachel, Amy, Shela, and Kathy you are all in my prayers and Roycee you are always in my heart.

Mr. Royce was like the neighborhood Dad for all of the kids. The previous poster was right about the tossing in the pool! "Jaws" was one of Gordie's favorite pool games! When you got caught by the legs he would lift you up high in the air and give you a toss! We all loved it and him so much!
Rachie,
The countless sleepovers and playing in the pool made growing up so much fun. We all had so many good times together and I am so sorry to hear of this loss. Gordon Royce is a part of all of our hearts. Love to you all,
Krissie

Dear Abby: I was saddened to hear about Gordon's death. As a former member of the Windsor High basebal team and manager of the basketball team -- and most of all as a wonderful person, I will always remember him as a close friend. Like Gordon, you as an old friend, will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Aunt Abby, Kathy, Sheila, Amy & Rachel - I cannot tell you how much Uncle Gordy is going to be missed. I remember so many fun times with him from when we were kids, my teenage years and when I became a mother. Roger remembers sitting and talking with him about his Navy years, I remember a baseball game, and all the fun times when we were all together for wonderful family gatherings. Marlene and Karl, Roger & I all want you to know how very much we love you all and are always in our thoughts and prayers. Uncle Gordy is at peace and we must remember that. We love you dearly.

It's hard to put into words how much Gordon ment to us and our family. Moving across the street from all of the Royce family was the best thing that has every happened to us. He brought our girls into softball and incouraged our son to play ball. There were many wonderful and laughing times spent with him. He will be missed and never out of our thoughts.
Our love to all of you.

I have been Roycee's neighbor for nearly 30 years. I can't begin to think of all that I will be missing without gord around, the talks between the fences, the many visits during the day, just everything. In my heart, my friend, my neighbor, will always be next door for many years to come.
