Lloyd DEVAUL Obituary

DEVAUL, Lloyd Gaylord Lloyd Gaylord Devaul, 87, formerly of Meriden, died Monday, (March 14, 2010) in Palm Harbor, FL. He was the husband of the late Norma Glike Devaul. Born in Meriden on March 15, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Bertha Brown Devaul. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He was self-employed as a contractor, specializing in the renovation of older homes. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy Engineer Corps. Lloyd was a member of the Y's Men's Club and was past President of the Berlin Historical Society. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Meriden. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Savidakis and her husband, Michael of Tarpon Springs, FL and Aimee Peppe and her husband, James of Spring Hill, FL; a brother, Robert Devaul of Madison, WI; seven grandchildrenp; two nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Allen. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Hubbard Chapel in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Lucy Ijams will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors by the Antique Veterans of Meriden. Arrangements are under the direction of Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Avenue, Meriden. Please accept our sincerest sympathy for your loss. Lloyd often stopped by our house when out walking Oscar. We shared many a conversation standing by the fence solving the world's problems. He is in our prayers.
