William Burtness Obituary

BURTNESS, WILLIAM H. William H. Burtness, 85, of Wethersfield died on Sunday, (November 26, 2006) as the result of a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Oleskewicz) Burtness. Born in Cook, Minnesota, he lived in Connecticut for many years. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1987. Bill had a great love of gardening and traveling with Jean. Besides his wife Jean, he leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Marc Herzog of Barkhamsted; two grandsons, Nathan Herzog and his wife Kristin of Granby and Ross Herzog of Barkhamsted; and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Herzog. He also leaves two sisters, Marianne Swanson and Betty Rieder; and one brother, Eldred Burtness all of Minnesota; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Joyce Oleskewicz of Florida; sister-in-law Shirley Oleskewicz of Suffield; as well as many nieces; and nephews. Bill's family would like to offer special thanks to all of Bill's caregivers at Hartford Hospital and Elm Hill Convalescent Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 29, at 9a.m., from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 5-8p.m., at the funeral chapel.
