ERICKSON, Walter Bertil Walter B. Erickson, loving husband of Muriel (Carlson) Erickson, died Sunday, (November 27, 2005) at Avery Heights, Hartford. Born in Hartford, August 18, 1918, son of Gustaf and Anna (Bursell) Erickson, he lived over 50 years in West Hartford. He is survived by a son, Douglas Erickson (wife Marguerite) of Brewster, MA; a daughter, Jeanne Smith (husband, Jerome) of Charlotte, NC; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Salt Lake, UT; six grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Erickson of Utah; Molly, Elisabeth and Jon of Massachusetts; Erik Smith (wife, Gretchen) of North Carolina. Also nieces, Joy Erickson of Farmington and Carol Fishman of W. Hartford; and sister-in law, Millicent Loomis of Florida and Marion Erickson of Farmington. Walter was predeceased by his son, David; and brother, Carl. Walter attended Hartford schools and graduated from the Univ. of Connecticut School of Engineering. He served in the South Pacific during World War II as an Air Force Pilot and in Korea with the Connecticut Air National Guard. He worked 11 years for Fafnir Bearing Co, New Britain as a mechanical engineer and was self-employed over 35 years as a consulting professional engineer, specializing in environmental problems. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church, West Hartford Regents (ex-president and summer golfer), and founding member of Scandinavian Cultural Society of Greater Hartford. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, at 11 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church, 457 Main St., Hartford 06103, followed by a reception at the church. (Ample parking rear of church). Memorial contributions nay be made to Central Baptist Church or to choice of donor.

Noticing Walt's obituary conjured up fond memories of our days at Otis AFB. Obviously he was a memorable sort of a guy, and accomplished, too. My best to Muriel.
