Myra Scott

Myra (Fredman) Scott, 83, a resident of South Windsor for the past 20 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2013 with her loving daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late David B. Scott, for 60 years, and mother of two devoted daughters, Judith Scott of South Windsor and Valerie Scott of Manchester. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Louis and Rose Fredman. Myra had lived 20 years in Manchester before moving to South Windsor. Myra retired after working as a secretary for 25 years in marketing supplies. She then became involved in volunteer work. In Manchester, she delivered Meals on Wheels; was a Friendly Visitor, joined Literacy Volunteers and worked with slow readers in schools. Myra was a Life Member of the Hadassah Manchester group and was their bulletin editor for several years. In this role, she won a regional award for the best bulletin. She also typed the bulletin for Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor for several years. When Myra moved to South Windsor, she became active as a volunteer for the South Windsor Public Library and led cultural trips for them for six years. She also worked in the used book resale room. Myra was on the Board of the Friends of the South Windsor Library for 15 years and the Board of her condo association. Myra was predeceased by her brother, Maurice Fredman of Flagstaff, AZ; She is survived by two nieces, Gayle and Michelle also of Flagstaff; and one nephew, Phillip, of Indiana and many loving long-time friends. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9, at 1:30 p.m., at The B'nai Israel Cemetery, opposite 54 Edith Rd. in Vernon, CT. with Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman officiating.
