William Solecki Obituary

William "Bill" Solecki, Jr., 67, of East Hartford, beloved husband for over 45 years of Stella (Fox) Solecki, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Belgium to the late William, Sr. and Olga (Burch) Solecki, he came to the US as a young man and met and married his wife Stella in Massachusetts before settling in East Hartford over 30 years ago. Bill served his country proudly with the US Navy and loved the casino, target practice at the firing range and doing home improvements around the house or for his childrens' homes. But most important was his family who meant the world to him. Besides his wife Stella, he is survived by his son Johnny Blinn of Windsor; his daughters April Solecki of Manchester, Sharon Pinkham of Enfield, Laurie Bani Essa and her husband Adell of Broad Brook, and Serena Blinn of Orange, MA; his granddaughter Danielle Barker of Boston; his brothers John Solecki and his wife Teddi of Agawam, MA and Michael Solecki and his wife Kathleen of Wilton; his sisters Joanna Kostopolus and her husband William of Chicopee, MA, Sonia Cavanagh and her husband John of Cleveland, OH and Anna Palmer of Chicopee, MA; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, January 21 at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd South Windsor. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Daddy,
You came to us so long ago when I was just five you know. The joining of our families together brought new grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, which was a treasure none of us expected. Weddings, birthdays, holidays and anniversaries we spent together with you were perfected. You taught us right from wrong. You showed us how to be strong. You and mom did your very best to keep us all safe and together in our family nest. You taught me how to ride a bike when I was just a little tyke. You worked hard for us and played hard too. All our celebrations were filled with laughter because of you. Five children and your grandchild surely kept you busy, you listen to our grievances and never went into a tizzy. You gave the best advice whenever one of us was in strife. You show us how to live together to get the most out of life. You teased us all for that was your way, to make us laugh at ourselves and enjoy every day. You helped me with buying cars. You encouraged us to reach for the stars. When you and mom became ill, the road for us seemed all uphill. Even though you yourself were in pain and your heart was not strong, you persevered and still took care of us and mom. When I think of all the fun times we spent together the warmth of your love will will fill our hearts forever. When you left us for another place, instead of leaving a hole to fill, there is a wellspring of your love and laughter that is in our hearts still. We will miss you each and every passing moment Dad, you wonderful father of ours. Each time I called you, you ended the call the same way, so now I say it to you for the time when we will be together again. "Catch you later Daddy" We love you and miss you so very much.

Oh my Dad, I miss you so
So sad it was your time to go
You gave me life, you taught me well
Will I see you again? Time will tell...
You cared for my siblings, like they were your own
Over the years, the love has grown
You cared for Mom when times were bad
Such a saint, thank god for Dad!
I cherished your advise, you knew it all
Though your height was short, you stood so tall!
You were always so fun, so damn cute!
Got to say, sometimes I wish you had a "mute"!
You drove me crazy at times, I cannot lie...
Somehow, I guess, I thought you would never die
So now, My DAD, I say goodbye
I miss you so, I need to cry
It's time to rest, you have been picked
Do behave up there! (I hear they are strict!)
So rest in peace dad, and wait for me!
I know, it was your time to be free...

Love,

Your Daughter,

April <3
