To Kathy and the Iwanicki family. My sincere condolences to everyone. Ed was a great Man. I fondly remember Ed as the BEST Meriden Umpire. When I would be at bat and Ed would call a questionable strike I would turn look at him and with the always present smile Ed would say Hit the Next One. He inspired and encouraged me to join and become a Meriden Umpire soon after my graduation from high school. I can still see him behind the plate always calling a very honest ball game.
As time will pass you will always have the wonderful memories of your Dad in your Heart.

Being in sports all of my life I can remember Ed mostly as an umpire in many Meriden leagues. The best thing I can remember was that he was always a very fair umpire and he would let you have your say on a disputed call.
Meriden has lost a Sports Icon and a truly nice, friendly gentleman.
My condolences to the Iwanicki Family. May Ed`s soul rest in God`s eternal peace!

Dan & Family,
Your father was very good to me when I was young and played Jr. football and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.
He accompanied us and the Record-Journal team to Philadelphia and the bus ride was joyous because he was there.
I know you have fond memories of him and I hope they comfort you in this most difficult time.
I will add him to my prayers tonight and may he rest in peace.
From an old friend-
Tom
