Roman Solecki Obituary
Roman Solecki, 92, of Union, CT, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was born on April 6, 1925 in Lwow, Poland. He came to the United States in January of 1968 after winning a scientific scholarship from the University of Connecticut. Roman retired from the University of Connecticut as a full professor in mechanical engineering. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Maria (Mis) Solecki; and several cousins. I was very sad to hear that Romek (Roman) pass away. He was the last relative from my mother family. I saw him many times as a child in Poland but then we emigrated to Israel and He to USA but we were in phone contact especially after my mother get mentally ill. We meet Him and His wife in Warsaw 3 years ago.
Although his age he was mentally brilliant. We spoke about music (I was surprised that He didn't like Bach music it was to mathematical to him..)' politics,arts, films, my academic and musical lectures.. He was really renaissance man and very human -always ask about my mother and was very sad about her condition. He has unusual sense of humor. Also he has outstanding talent for languages. Last time we spoke he told me that he began to learn Latin language.
Rest in peace dear uncle. I already miss our phone conversations.

I will miss him greatly. He was very important to my early career. Roman was living definition of a gentelman and a scholar. Sorry to miss the service i am out of state.
