Maria Pforr-Horine Obituary

Pforr-Horine DECATUR - Maria Pforr-Horine, 83, of Normal, passed away at 1:44 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Normal. She was born July 3, 1926 in Enfield, IL, daughter of Hallie Blanch Darnall and Warren Gene Thomas. She first married Gerald Bryant and later married Kenneth Pforr, who preceded her in death. She then married Clifford C. Horine on July 22, 1999 and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009. She was also preceded in death by three brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Linda R. (Phil) Smith of Normal; two sons, G. Michael (Susan) Bryant of Decatur and Gary (Cyndie) Bryant of Bloomington; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Rudy (Sue) Atkinson and three sisters, Darlene (Don) Shepard, Vilet Lavine and Jeannie Warman. Maria was an accomplished seamstress and did work out of her home. She was a member of bowling leagues for many years and enjoyed playing guitar and the organ. Maria was also an avid dancer and enjoyed being part of a seniors group that taught line dancing to students. She was also a member of the Bloomington Elks, Moose and Eagles Lodges and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Private graveside services will be held in the spring at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Passages Hospice Last Wish Foundation, 315 N. Prairie Street, Bloomington, IL 61701.
