Willie Lane Obituary

LOVINGTON - Willie J. Lane, Sr., 76, of Lovington, passed away at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday (November 21, 2006) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with the Rev. Carl M. (Mike) Jackson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in the Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials are suggested to the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net. Willie was born November 26, 1929 in Bowling Green, Kentucky the son of James Delbert and Lois Linville Lane. He was a self employed contractor and owned and operated Lane Home Improvement. Willie was a member of the Lovington First Baptist Church. He married Maxine Wilson on September 6, 1947 in Adairville, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on February 20, 1992. Surviving are his children, Charlene Coleman and her husband Jim of Sullivan, Willie J. Lane, Jr., of Lovington, Suzanne Goad-Gregory and her husband Richard of Decatur, Bryant Lane of Robstown, Texas; brothers, Roger Lane and his wife Esther of Allenville, Jay Lane and his wife Lovina of Lovington; sister, Carolyn Walker and her husband Oliver of Sullivan; sister in law, Betty Hettinger Lane of Mt. Zion; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Aubrey Lane. Obituary written by family members.
