Willie Tate Obituary

DECATUR - Willie Lee Tate, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1930 in Union City, TN the son of Ora Jane Sanders and Carie Tate. He married Marilyn Lowery–Tate on July 9, 1998. Mr. Tate was a laborer at Wagners Casting Company and PDR Construction for over 30 years. He retired at the age of 60 years. He was a member of the Church of Living God Temple #4 under the leadership of Chief Overseer E.F. Grey, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Marilyn Tate of Decatur, IL; his children from a previous marriage Barbara (Corneilus) Rolax of Little Rock, AR, Gloria Robbins and Willie Lee (Sara) Tate, Jr. of Decatur, IL; from his current marriage the children he leaves to mourn his loss are: Robert (Candace) Lowery of Bossier City, LA, Jonice Lowery of Decatur, IL, Jacqueline Woods of Decatur, IL, Bradley Tate of Tobyhanna, PA, Lonnell Lowery of Decatur, IL, Annette Lowery of Longview, TX and also Anita Amour of Decatur, IL; brothers: Harold Tate, Henry (Wanda) Lee Tate, Gary Tate, Curtis (Sara) Tate of Humboldt, TN; sisters: Eliza Smith of Union City, TN, Vera (Eddie) Williams and Lillie Jean Williams of Humbolt, TN, Stepbrothers: James (Vera) Sheppard and Wilburt (Lynn) Sheppard of Humboldt, TN; Stepsisters: Patsy Patrick, Glenzell (Rochester) Gooch, of Humboldt, TN and Era Mae (David) Stuart of Toledo, OH and he also leaves to mourn his passing, special grandson Marlow Lowery who he raised, 40 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends . One of the things he looked forward to in the winter was hunting, for he loved to hunt, and in the summer he was planting a garden for all who wanted one, and when he arrived home in the evening hours of the day we, his children looked forward to his popcorn. He will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents Ora Jane Sanders and Carie Tate, one sister Ora Lee Wordlow and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Cleveland Avenue Church of the Living God Temple #4 (904 East Cleveland Avenue) with visitation at 11:00 am and the funeral to begin at 12:00pm Chief Overseer Past Grey will be the officiant and the Eulogist.
