Samuel Kirschner Obituary

Samuel Kirschner Jr., died in the early morning hours of May 28, 2012. He was 93. He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel, his adoring sister, Thelma, two children; Claudia Kirschner Laurence and Jay Kirschner, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Born on August 1, 1917, he survived the Great Depression, then served his country honorably and with distinction in World War II while in the U.S. Army Air Corps; Asian theater. Following the war, Sam eschewed the opportunities afforded by the G.I. bill and instead began working and raising a family, which he also did with honor and distinction. "Good Neighbor Sam" was a multi-talented, hard working, successful entrepreneur, who cherished family above all else. Though not college educated, many assumed he was, due to his voracious dedication to amassing knowledge about a vast, eclectic array of topics. Sam was highly intelligent, progressive, and fascinated by world history and politics, and attempted to instill those qualities in his children, his many friends, and anyone else who would listen. Perhaps his most defining characteristic was his sense and love of humor. He believed in his soul that the curative power of laughter was unlimited. And with humor, Sam practiced what he preached. He loved to make those around him laugh—and they inevitably did. Rest well and peacefully, Sam. Your family and friends will never forget the joy and adventure you brought to their lives.
