Paula Wornhor Obituary

WHITEWRIGHT - Paula Elayne Trotter Wornhor of Whitewright, was born March 4, 1949 to Paul and Virginia Trotter in Sherman, and passed away Oct. 11, 2009, at the age of 60. She married Frank Wornhor Jan. 12, 1968 in Howe. They were married just shy of 42 years.
Paula passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. She loved life and was very strong, amazing and brave throughout this battle. She was an inspiration to everyone she encountered during her illness and treatment, making new friends as she traveled weekly during the last year to San Antonio for clinical trial chemotherapy treatments at START (South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics).
Paula was a very special person and was known to her grandkids as "Mimi." She loved spending time with them and teaching them new things. They meant the world to her as well as her to them. Paula loved to travel to Germany and had visited numerous times. She will be greatly missed by her family and to all who knew her.
Paula attended Sherman schools and graduated from Howe High School in 1967. She was a member of the Kentuckytown Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Frank; son Mark and wife Robin Wornhor; daughter Mara and husband Gary Beck; grandchildren Blake and Blare Wornhor, and Kerry Beck all of Whitewright; parents Paul and Virginia Trotter of Whitesboro; sisters, Debby and husband Jerry Copeland of Deadwood; Nyala and husband Bruce Williams of Austin; brothers, Wayne and Paul David Trotter of Pottsboro; Robert Trotter and Lisa of Howe; brother-in-law Pete and wife Shirlene Wornhor of Denison; sister-in-law Helga and husband John Harley of Whitewright and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Xaver and Magdalena Wornhor.
Special thanks to both of her sisters for spending week after week with her and caring for her. We also want to thank Dr. Tammy Roque, Dr. Amita Patnaik, Dr. John Preskitt, Dr. John Fletcher, Dr. Philip Pitts, Jennifer Shaw and Carolyn (her nurses during clinical trials), and Home Hospice of Grayson County for all of the help and support they provided during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Kentuckytown Baptist Church in Whitewright. Officiating the service will be Rev. Greg Allen and Rev. Ron Trotter. Pallbearers will be Kevin Clement, Torrey Eisenhut, Michael Paul Copeland, Peter Wornhor, Pete Wornhor, and Harold Finney. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright. The family will gather at the home of Mark and Robin Wornhor in Whitewright after graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright. An online registry may be signed at www.tjmfuneral.com.
