Kenneth Scott Obituary

Kenneth Dale Scott
Sept. 12, 1945- Apr. 10, 2011

Ken was born in Everett, WA and spent most of his life there.
His mother, Violet Scott, and father, Dale Scott, preceded him in death.
Ken has two sisters, Betty (Scott) Keller and Sharon (Scott) McClellan; and many nieces and nephews, whom he never forgot their birthdays or important events in their lives.
He attended Lowell School, Cascade High School and graduated from the University of Washington. His first job was as a forest fire lookout near Packwood, WA. Since he wanted to help people, he joined the Peace Corps and went to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. From there he traveled to Afghanistan to collect wheat samples for the United Nations. Then on to Morocco and Saudi Arabia to teach their military pilots to speak the English language. When he returned to Everett he picked his favorite subject, stamp collecting, and worked at Odyssey Stamp and Coin Shop until his health began to decline. Ken will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Per his request, no services will be held.
Arrangements entrusted to Purdy & Walters with Cassidy, Everett, 425-252-2191.

I remember his laughter among many other qualities that he has.
I like to speak in the present tense because he is always present in my memory.

Ken did a tremendous amount of volunteer work in the past 15 years in Snohomish County as well. He taught me a lot.

It was probably in the 8th grade at Evergreen Junior High (where we shared a journalism class)when Ken finally convinced me to sell him my meager stamp collection. The next day he couldn't wait to tell me that he more than recovered his purchase price in the value of just one stamp. Neither of us knew he would continue collecting and selling stamps his entire life.

Ken was one of the most talented individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He was a great actor, singer, brilliant student, and what a great laugh! I'll never forget when we were in typing class together and we always competed to be first. Whatever Ken attempted, he excelled in. Certainly will miss the caroling and carrying on with this great guy.

I had not seen Ken since Cascade High School days, but certainly remember him as having a great sense of humor
and always being such a swell friend to so many of his schoolmates! Ken was a really sweet, caring guy who, I'm sure, would have given "the shirt off his back" to anyone in need. I especially remember fondly the great times we all had putting on plays with all of our drama club buddies!
Ken will be very much missed.

I had the great fun of working with Ken in a couple of plays at Cascade. His goodwill and laughter still bring a smile to my face. I'm lucky to have known him.

I will always remember Ken as a great dance partner. He could polka! It might have been at the Cascade High Sadie Hawkins dance that I discovered this hidden talent of his. What fun it was. I also liked his voice, so Ken sang at our wedding. Later, he entertained us with his fascinating international travel stories. I hope I remembered to tell Ken how much I enjoyed and admired him.

Knew Ken from grade school through H.S. he was always lively and funny. Enjoyed visiting with him at last "63" reunion.
Rest in peace!

Such sad news to lose someone so full of life and good humor. We met in high school and roomed together during our first year at the U of W. The memories for both Anne and I are strong and positive. So glad we "spoke" on Facebook just several weeks ago. R.I.P., my friend.

I am so very sad to hear of the loss of this wonderful man. I was Ken's home health nurse for the past 5 years and so very much enjoyed his stories, experiences and wisdom....and of course his wonderful cookies every Christmas. My world is a better place because of the positive ways he touched my life!!! You will be missed my friend

Ken was a great conversationlist and kind spirited. He had a wonderful sense of humor. I have happy memories of our visit at the last 1963 CHS class gathering and enjoyed our chats on Facebook. He will be missed by many.

Ken was my first visitor when I started the 5th grade at Roosevelt. I was from Missouri and he told me he wanted to see if we had beards. Ken was always curious and highly intelligent. I always enjoyed our conversations at the coin store. RIP my friend.

From the time Ken transferred to the old Rosevelt School through our graduation from Cascade High, Ken was a good school friend. Upon my return from the military, Ken was a neighbor at our Silver Lake apartment. I saw him most recently perhaps 18 months ago on one of my Everett visits. He was in great mental condition, as we chatted about various classmates and occasions during our younger days. He loved his stamps and communicating with friends. He will be missed.

Ken was an enthusiastic stamp collector. He loved the hobby, loved traveling the world through his stamps (even though he had already done much traveling in his professional career). He was full of helpful information, funny, loving and a caring individual. We will miss you Ken!
