Margaret Ferguson Obituary

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Margaret F. Ferguson (Peggy to those who knew her) announces that she opened the door to her new life of peace on Monday, May 16, 2016. Peggy, born into this life on January 5, 1925, was raised in Newburgh, N.Y., as the youngest daughter of Robert and Sarah Lincoln. She attended St. Patrick's school and was a 1942 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. During WWII she met a USAAF flight instructor, Lt. Chester I. Ferguson, Jr., at Stuart Field in Westpoint, N.Y., they were wed six months later on August 6, 1944, and were together for 58 years until Chet's passing in 2002. As a military family for 23 years she traveled the world extensively, enjoying each posting and the individual challenges they presented. She was very active in the Officer's Wives clubs. She was an independent soul and typically worked in accounting and credit management throughout her career. Upon Chet's retirement from the US Air Force the family relocated settling in Everett, Wash., however their wanderlust never subsided as they continued to travel. After moving to Everett she immediately obtained a Credit Manager position with St. Regis Lumber in Marysville, Wash. and worked there until her retirement. Family was her principal passion but she still found time during her career and afterward to be an active member in the National Association of Credit Management, Silver Lake Kiwanis, Republican Women's Association, Apartment Owners Association, among other club and association interests. She loved family, friends, travel, swing dancing, playing cards, discussing politics, reading, and planning or attending various events; memorable was making sure the whole family was together to celebrate the millennium change in Hawaii. Peggy will be remembered for her zest for life, generosity, adaptability, religious convictions, keen sense of wit, warm heartedness, and will be missed by her whole family and her many friends around the globe. Peggy and Chet had five children (Elaine, Chet III, Bob, Terry Jean and Thom). She is survived by Elaine Grant, Chet III and Linda Ferguson, Bob and Dallas Ferguson, and Thom and Lisa Ferguson. She also left a legacy of seven grandchildren: Ginger and boyfriend, Rob Snook, Jeff and wife, Kristen, Audra and husband, Jeff Doll, Bob Jr., Chet IV, Christina and husband, David Jernberg, and Jimmy. She was also blessed to have seven great grandchildren: Jake, Maeve, Quinlann, Ronin, Jocelyn, Gwenn and Gavin, together with numerous nieces and nephews and two faithful mutts, Zoe and Beemer. Upon opening the door to her new existence she was greeted by Chet, Terry Jean, her parents; her sister, Anne and husband, Jack, and others who preceded her. She will be interred with her husband, Chet, at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to The Humane Society for Seattle/King County.

Oh that Peggy, was wonderful and oh so cheery. She had
such a zest for life and always a beautiful smile.

I met Peggy while I was working in the office at Buse Mill
which was adjacent to St. Regis where Peggy worked in
the office. We would meet a lunch hour to play gin rummy
with the guys. Peggy, like myself, worked every day in
a "man's" world - we both looked like women but
were told that we "thought like men".

What a joy to have known Peggy. Thoughts and prayers
go out to her family.

I would add that she was also forgiving and supportive; an amazing woman. She will be missed.
