Herbert Knutsen Obituary
Herbert Oliver Ludvig Knutsen
Herb was a kind, gentle person who was very accepting of others and demonstrated deep compassion in his work and personal life. He wrote poetry, often to summarize a sermon. Many people have poems he wrote for weddings and funerals. He also enjoyed watercolor painting and calligraphy. In Bonner he was president of Concerned Citizens for Constructive Change and was a Democratic state committeeman from Missoula County. In Plentywood he helped establish Glenwood Group Home. He also became an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteered on the ambulance.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Leif and Inga; brothers, Elmer, Lawrence, Wil, Leif and Richard; and sisters, Olive Helfenberger and Iris Tompkins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Jean; sisters, Ruth Sundseth and Sheila Knutsen; daughters, Cynthia Ann Knutsen and Charlotte Marie Knutsen (Kelly Nicklay); son, Joel William Knutsen (Jennifer); grandchildren, Samuel Knutsen Saroff and Suzanne Marie Saroff, Emily Marie Lee and Victoria Delores Nicklay, Saige Amber Knutsen, David Lawrence Knutsen and Ana Daria Rodriguez Knutsen; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Barbara Peterson; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Missoula.
