June Dore Obituary

June L. Ekman Dore

Our mother passed away peacefully April 3, 2011 at Blueberry Gardens, Bothell, WA.
June was born in St. Joseph, MO to Naomi Cook and William A. Lewis on December 6, 1919. She moved to Spokane at an early age and graduated from North Central High School, where she performed on-stage in dance and operetta productions.
June was blessed by the love of three husbands during her 91 years. She was married young to Charles H. Twitchell. Her second marriage to Leon G. Ekman lasted 37 years and after being widowed for eight years, she met and married Raymond Dore, her new square dance partner. They had great fun travelling the states in their motor home but sadly, their three year marriage left her widowed again.
She remained active in WICS and TOPS and made many friends. Her lifetime hobbies included sewing, painting and gardening. June loved travelling and boasted that she had visited 28 countries. Her happiest travelling memories included the black sand beaches in Hawaii and a dream trip to the Scandinavian countries with her husband, Leon.
She is survived by a large family including three daughters, Barbara Webb ("Bobbie"), Sandra Dainton ("Sandy") and Kristi Hill and her husband, Dan. She proudly spoke of her 12 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Twice in her lifetime, she was part of five living generations.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and will be remembered at a family memorial celebration.
Donations in her memory may be made to Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 50020, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.
