Brent Poppleton Obituary

WELLSVILLE - Brent Don Poppleton, 60, passed away from cancer June 9, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family.
Brent was born July 19, 1947, in Logan, Utah. He was the third of five children, born to Don E. and Virginia (Bitters) Poppleton. He grew up in Wellsville, where most of his education was completed, except for one year of grade school in Ogden. He graduated from Sky View High School in 1965, at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He then served seven years in the National Guard. While in the National Guard, he attended USU and worked for his parents at Poppleton Beauty Supply.
In 1972 he met the love of his life, Christine Slagowski, while they worked together at the family business. They were united through marriage Sept. 23, 1972, in Ogden. During their marriage, they were blessed with three wonderful children.
They made their home in Wellsville, working on the family farm while starting their business adventure together. Together, through hard work and determination, they became the owners of Mulligans Social Club in 1983.
Brent loved his family and loved spending time with them. He loved to be outdoors, whether it was on the farm, the golf course or on the front deck of their place overlooking the beautiful view of Bear Lake. Brent was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years; son Jeremie (Cristy) Poppleton; daughters, Jamie (Bart) Thompson and Jessie Ann Poppleton; three special grandchildren, Dillon (Dill Pickle), Kaylee (Owee) , and Cole (Coke-a-cola); and siblings, Janet (Jerry) DeMond of Pleasant View, Utah, Kathy (Blaine) Fuhriman of Providence, Utah, David (Bobbie) Poppleton of West Lynn, Ore., and Susan (Scott) Davis of Farmington, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Virginia; brother-in-law, Val Slagowski, and good friend, Dean (Deano) Carlsen.
A special thanks to all of his close friends in Bear Lake, the wonderful staff at Alpine Hospice and Dr. Kevin Blotter and staff.
Graveside services will be noon Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Wellsville Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan.
