Peter Foley Obituary

PETER J. FOLEY, of The Woodlands, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 30, 2007. He died very suddenly of an apparent heart attack in Colorado Springs, CO. He was 67 years old. Pete was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 2, 1939. A graduate of Northeastern University and Columbia University, he served two years in the U.S. Army, before beginning his career with Mobil Oil Company in 1965. From 1991 to 1997 he served as Executive Vice President of Saudi Yanbu Petrochemical Company a Mobil joint venture in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. He retired from Mobil in August of 2000. After retirement, he continued to live life to the fullest. He volunteered with numerous service and church organizations. He went on eight mission trips to Central America with various church groups and ministries. The last few years, he was deeply involved in a mentoring program with college-age young men. Pete also found much time to enjoy his passion for the outdoors with skiing, hiking, backpacking, and golf. Nothing in his life surpassed his love for his family Ginny, his wife of 39 years: daughter Suzanne Foley of Colorado Springs; son David and his wife Kim, of Sugar Land, and five beloved grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by a brother, Coleman Foley of Avon, Massachusetts, and a sister, Dorothea Foley Coughlin of Brunswick, Maine. A Memorial service will be held at The Woodlands United Methodist Church (2200 Lake Woodlands Drive) at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19. Pete will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we, the family, rejoice in the knowledge that, though he is absent in the body he is present with the Lord. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers and in memory of Pete, donations may be sent to one of the following: The Missions Fund of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380, Leadnow Ministries, 1300 East Stone St., Brenham, TX 77833, or Mexico Outreach, P.O. Box 81933, Lafayette, LA 70598.
