Paul Mauk Obituary

PAUL H. MAUK, 88, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. He was born in Franklin, Texas on June 8, 1919. He was a devoted husband and father whose life was centered on his family. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was 15 to support his mother and younger brother. He later served in the Navy at Pearl Harbor during World War II. Paul and Alma Jeanne were married in 1951 at Christ the King Lutheran Church and were long time members of Faith Lutheran Church and most recently members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He was a Houston police officer who served 38 years for the City of Houston. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alma Jeanne, his son, Dr. Martin Mauk, his daughters Melinda Hyer and Madeline Mauk, his grandchildren Jason Mauk, Melissa Hyer, Elyse Mauk, and Virginia Schmidt. Paul was preceded in death by his mother Verta Petty, his brother Bernard Mauk, his father Albert Mauk, his stepfather Edward Petty and his grandson Bill Hyer. Paul's family thanks Aurtelia Callis and Haney Goswick-Cross for their care of Paul and Alma Jeanne. Paul's family also thanks the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, including those in the emergency room, on the stroke team, and in the neurology ICU as well as the doctors and nurses at Select Care Hospital. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation at the Bradshaw-Carter Home 1734 W. Alabama St. Houston, Texas 77098 on Friday May 30 from Five o'clock to Seven in the evening. A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 31 from one o'clock in the afternoon at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church 1805 W. Alabama St, Houston, Texas 77098. Internment to follow with Police Honor Guard at Forest Park- Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The 100 Club of Houston or to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Houston. I remember Paul from Burglary & Theft Division..It seems like I was always bringing someone up there, and Paul would help me, when he was available,,He was a great officer,who knew his job inside out..
