Stephanie Odle Obituary

Stephanie Rosenthal Odle
1939-2015
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Steffie Odle graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Education. After she married Dr. David Odle in 1961, she devoted her life to her family, marriage, faith and community.
Steffie was an inspiration to many in the Jewish community where she championed early childhood education and caring for congregants in varied ways. In recent years, Steffie brought hope and encouragement to others as a volunteer at M.D. Anderson and Houston Hospice. She always lived life to the fullest and especially displayed immense courage and resilience during her own battle with cancer.
Steffie loved to make memories with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, David, she is survived by children Lisa & Bob Kaufman, Kenneth Odle & Jill Lindquist, grandchildren Ned and Danielle Kaufman, siblings Mark & Suzann Rosenthal, Bill & Ruth Odle Baker, and Margie Odle & Carl Bergman. Additionally, she leaves behind dear cousins Faylinda & Marshall Lindner and Sandy & Jim Hack.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday April 13 at 4:15 pm, Barish Sanctuary, Congregation Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd., Houston, 77005, Rabbi Roy A. Walter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Jewish Community Center's Steffie Odle Teacher Training Fund, Temple Emanu El's Caring Congregation Fund, Jewish Family Service, and Greene Family Camp.

Dear Dr. Odle, Lisa, Kenny and family,

My deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of a beautiful loving and kind woman. I will forever hold Mrs. Odle close to my heart as she was such a big part of my childhood. Living next door to you all on Braesmont was a priceless time in my life. My mother sends her love and sympathy as well. You will all be in my prayers.

Dear sweet Stephie, you spent your life giving to all those around you. You called us "flood sisters," opening your home to Joe and me in the aftermath of Katrina. Rest in peace, good friend . I wish your loving family strength and comfort.
