William Goree Obituary
1920-2015
William Langston Goree, 95 of Madisonville and previously Houston, passed away on April 19, 2015 in Madisonville. Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Lanier Stevens & Steve Sandifer will officiate. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery in Midway, Texas. Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Mr. Goree was born on April 14, 1920 in the Connor Community of Madison County, Texas to Lillie Mae Seales & William Langston Goree, Sr. He moved to Houston at an early age and was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Houston. He was later a member of the Midway Church. Mr. Goree lived in the Houston area for over 60 years. He retired from Union Bottling Company which made Dr. Pepper Bottles. After retirement he was involved in real estate. Mr. Goree bought a place in Midway in the mid sixties. Mr. Goree's son, Kenneth took his parents to the first Astro baseball game in Enron Stadium.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Raydoe Goree; son, William Langston Goree, III; brother, Jack Goree; half sisters, Lucille Randle, Mildred Williams and half brother, Hayes Goree. Survivors include: son, Kenneth Goree of Spring; 8 grandchildren, Dr. Jeff Goree, Robert Goree, Chris Goree, Brandon Goree, Austin Goree, Cristi Goree, Angelina Barber and Rachel Causey; 6 great grandchildren, Justin & Colton Barber, Madison, Riley & Spencer
Goree and Avery Causey.
The family would like to thank, Elmcroft Assited Living in Conroe and Riverwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Madisonville. Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr Goree. RIP. You and my Dad were best friends as kids. I remember in the 50's of coming to Midway and you gave my brothers and I a ride on a trailer, being pulled by a mule. Dad shared many stories. Prayers to loved ones left behind..

Mr.Langston Goree was a gentle man and a gentleman. He was so kind and encouraging to me as a young sixteen year old on my first real summer job. He knew how nervous I was, both at learning office skills in the real world and being observed because I was the boss's daughter (Fred Potthoff). In the three summer's I worked at Union Bottling Works, Langston Goree was always a shining example of what a person should be. I feel very blessed to have had him as an influence in my life.
