Betty Kennedy Obituary

Betty Ruth Trosclair Kennedy
1927-2016
Betty Ruth Kennedy entered her Savior's arms on May 20, 2016.
A funeral service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 2 PM. Following the service a reception is planned at the church. She will be buried, May 25, 2016 at 11 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Rose Trosclair and Emery Lee Kennedy, her husband of 46 years. She is survived by her sister Patsy Champagne Doucet and husband Tim, son Stephen Emery Kennedy, son Patrick Lee Kennedy and wife Melanie, daughter Kerry Kennedy Hollyday and husband Kevin, grandchildren Meghan Kennedy Gros, Lauren Kennedy Kauffman, Bryan Patrick Kennedy, Kathryn Elizabeth Kennedy, Elaine Kennedy Griffin, and Ara Kennedy Hollyday, and four great grandchildren. She treasured the love and devotion of Debbie Linzza Kennedy through the years.
Betty was born in Port Arthur Texas on November 28, 1927. She married Emery on October 30, 1949. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a lifelong Christian and active in the Methodist Church with involvement in organizing blood drives, the Shepherd's Ministry, and the Walk to Emmaus. She was sweet and gentle in spirit, concerned for others, gracious to all she encountered, and abiding in her love for family, friends and her Lord. She remained steadfast through the trials of the last few years of her life.
The family would like to express special thanks to our mother's caregivers over the last few years with special recognition of Elizabeth Kamuyu and Margaret Jones.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church in Betty's honor.

Is this Betty in highschool? I found it and some others with her name on them among photographs in a old family album.

In the late 80's, just a few years before my own mother passed from Alzheimer's, my new friend, Kerry invited me to Easter dinner with her family.

I remember well how beautifully Betty had laid out the table and how delicious the meal was topped off with her special surprise dessert of angel food cake with strawberries and homemade whipped cream. I knew I was the presence of someone special when she took the time to whip her own cream.:-)

For the past almost 30 years since, I have been invited to every Easter and Thanksgiving and watched Betty's grandchildren grow up, marry and have children of their own.

Betty always warmly welcomed me at her table. She took me into her home, her heart and her family and loved me as one of her own. She was a friend and other mother. She was gentle, generous and gracious and the classiest lady I have ever known.

She will be well remembered and dearly missed.
