June Bryant Obituary

JUNE WILLIAMS BRYANT died peacefully on September 10, 2006, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Graceville, Florida, on July 13, 1925, to Inez Box Williams and Waller Curtis Williams. June graduated from Graceville High School in 1943 and from Florida State University in 1948. She then moved to Sherman, Texas, to become a music teacher. In Sherman, she married Randolph Bryant, Jr. in 1949. June and Randolph raised their children, Randy and Charles, in Beaumont, Houston and New Orleans. After Randolph died in 1982, June remained in Houston but developed a love for traveling to England. When she was not spending time with her family or traveling, she was an avid reader and an accomplished pianist and enjoyed having wonderful conversations. June is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Mary Lou Williams and Ouida Sanders, and brothers Owen Williams and Mark Williams. She is survived by son Randolph Williams Bryant and wife Sandra Leigh Bryant, and son Charles Ashley Bryant; grandchildren Emily Carol Kramer, Amy Marie Lee, Elizabeth Anne Bryant and Stephen Andrew Bryant; four great-grandchildren; sister Carol Williams; and numerous friends and relatives. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Bryant, William Bomar, Mavis Kelsey, Douglas Kramer, James Lee, William Leigh and Richard Sylvan. Her family wishes to thank her caregivers Bernice Hodges, Rose Esechie and Vernice Johnson. June's family will receive friends for visitation Friday, September 15, from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at J.B. Earthman-Tanglewood Funeral Home, San Felipe at Bering. Funeral services will be at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road, Houston, Texas, on Saturday, September 16, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, June's family is requesting that memorials in her honor be made to the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University-MS 532, P.O. Box 1892, Houston, TX 77251-1892.

I am so sorry to hear of this loss. Ms. Bryant was so sweet and fun to work with and I'm truly sorry that I won't get to come and walk with her again. God bless you Ms. Bryant.
