Wanda Miller

Wanda Lee Miller March 6, 1934 - April 27, 2012 Wanda Lee Drake Miller passed away April 27, 2012 at a Boise hospital after a long battle with diabetes and related illnesses. She was 78. Wanda was born March 6, 1934 in Boise to Warren & Ruby Drake and was a 4th generation Boisean. Wanda graduated from Boise High School and earned an Associate of Arts degree with a music emphasis from Boise Junior College. After graduation, Wanda married Clarence E. Miller in October, 1954. They made their home in Boise and became the parents of Steve, Juli, and Ginny. Wanda and Clarence were active in the PTA, were past members of the Oddfellows/Rebekah Lodge and belonged to a social group called the "Merri-Weds" and socialized with the same friends for over 50 years. Wanda began working for the Boise School District in 1969 as Maple Grove Elementary's first school secretary and also worked at Garfield Elementary and Valley View Elementary. Wanda was active in the Idaho Association of Educational Office Professionals and served a term as president. She retired from the district in 1987. Wanda lived in Boise all her life except for 4 years when residing north of Baltimore, MD, on post at Aberdeen Proving Ground while Clarence was working for the National Guard out of Edgewood, MD. When Clarence retired from the National Guard, he and Wanda toured the U.S. in their motor home spending the winters in Arizona and summers back home in Boise. Wanda enjoyed watching NFL football and was a fan of several teams including the Baltimore Ravens. She was an avid fan of Boise State football and loved wearing the Broncos signature orange & blue apparel. She also enjoyed cross-stitch, playing the piano, bowling, and tending her patio garden full of flowers. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Miller as well as her parents and brothers Don & Dick Drake. She is survived by her son Steve and his wife, Kate of Boise, her daughter Juli also of Boise and her daughter Ginny MacAnespie and her husband, Alan of Baltimore, MD. Wanda is also survived by her granddaughters: Kimberly Miller and her husband Mike Wells, Krystal Miller, Elizabeth & Alayna MacAnespie as well as her brother & sister-in-law, Bob & Sandy Drake and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Drake. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Boise and Ashton, Idaho and many good friends around the country. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4601 S Surprise Way, in Boise. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
