Marie Badiola Obituary
April 19, 1932 ~ April 29, 2015
Marie Cruz Badiola, 83, of Homedale, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015. She was born to Ciriaco and Maria Bicandi on April 19, 1932, where she spent her childhood on the family farm in Marsing. A viewing will be held from 4:00-6:00PM on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale; a social hour with appetizers and drinks will follow at the Homedale Basque Center. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Marie's life will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel with graveside services following at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery. Following the graveside services, dinner will be served at the Homedale Basque Center.
Marie attended Marsing schools and graduated at the top of her class with honors. Marie was an active member in the Boise Basque Club, Homedale Basque Club and a longtime member of the Ladies Basque Organization in Boise.
On November 28, 1958, Marie married Jess Badiola and they were blessed with four children, Pilar, Ben, John and Julie.
Family and friends were Marie's passion and delight. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Marie loved to cook, everyone was always welcome and no one ever left her home hungry!
Marie loved promoting her Basque heritage. She volunteered her time at the Basque museum in Boise several summers and felt honored to be part of the building of the Homedale Basque Center.
Marie is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Badiola; two sisters, Pilar Bates and Connie Franks; and her two brothers, Luke Bicandi and Angel Bicandi. She is survived by her brother, John Bicandi; her three children, Pilar Badiola, Ben (Lori) Badiola, and John (LeAnn) Badiola; 7 grandchildren, Bryan (Florentina) Badiola, Antone (Sumr) Badiola, Brandon Badiola, Keleb Badiola, Rachel (Andrew) Davies, Aaron Wheeler JuleAnn Badiola; and 6 great-grandchildren, Skylr Badiola, Sage Badiola, Mia Badiola, Selena Badiola, Paislee Badiola and Liam Badiola.

Marie was an amazing lady! Beautiful, fiesty, commited to her family, positive even on "cloudy" days, determined, amazing sense of humor, and a great cook. I always looked forward to seeing her at family functions as she always had a smile on her face and a warm welcome waiting. She made the best tongue ever...I still brag about this dish and the wonderful lady that made it. God blessed the Badiola family with this mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. You will me missed Ms Marie. I love you.
