George Cushing Obituary

George Arthur Cushing 1925 - 2011 Art was born March 12, 1925 in Three Sands, Oklahoma to Clyde and Madge Cushing. He was raised and attended school in Oklahoma until his family moved to Idaho in 1936, where he attended Ustick School and graduated from Meridian High School. He enlisted in the Army in May, 1943, serving in the infantry in the United States and also in Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze stars and a Combat Infantryman's Badge during his tour in Europe. He was discharged in December 1945. He married Lenora Estep on May 6, 1944 in Jefferson, Oregon. They had four children. He worked as an electrician for many years and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day and donated many hours to doing projects around the church and always willing to lend a helping hand to many in need. He was a very generous man. He loved working on old cars in his shop, spending time camping with family and friends and making morning trips to the local coffee shop to be with his buddies. Art and Lenora celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 1994. Lenora went to be with the Lord in October 1999. In 2001 Art remarried to Melba St. Clair the second love of his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Art is survived by his wife Melba of Meridian; two daughters Marilyn(Warner) Sheldahl of Meridian; Sharon(Bill) Siddens of Marceline, MO. Two sons; Jim of Boise ID. And Terry(Veta) of Meridian, Nine grandchildren and 20 + 1 on the way great grandchildren. One sister; Rita Lee of Boise ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Charles and great granddaughter Katherine Ann. Memorials may be made to General Council, Church of God, 1827 West 3rd, Meridian, Idaho 83642. Art and Lenora opened their home to us thirty years ago when we got married. The works has lost a great man. But, he left behind two great men that follow closely in his footsteps, Terry and Paul. Love and prayers to the whole Cushing family.

The lasst time I saw Art, he told me that ehe was having trouble with his heart. I am so sorry for your loss. Art was a very special man. What fun we all had with your Mom, Dad, Pinkie and Bill. We will be praying for all of you. Freckleton and Westmark families.
