Goforth, Jr.

Herbert A. Goforth, Jr., age 74, formerly of Jackson, TN, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his Springfield, TN residence.

A native of Memphis, TN, Herbert was born on April 1, 1939, the son of the late Herbert A. Goforth, Sr. and Erda McClanahan Goforth. He served his country in the United States Army and spent his career in law enforcement, serving departments in Shelby Co., Jackson, TN and Collierville, TN.

He is survived by his sons, David Goforth (Sara Ann) of Medina, TN, Michael Goforth (Ginger) of Germantown, TN and William Goforth (Tammy) of Huntingdon, TN; his brother, Mack Goforth (Susan) of Dallas, TX; step-children, Robyn Chapman, Chip Chapman and Beau Chapman, all of Jackson, TN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and Linda Ward of Springfield, TN.

SERVICE: A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 9-10:30 a.m., at Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W. University Parkway, (731) 668-1111; www.arringtonfuneralgroup.com
