Paul Glenn Clauss, 87

Paul Glenn Clauss, 87, of Wolcott, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Creasy Springs of Lafayette.

He was born May 4, 1929 in Benton County to the late Alva and Emma (Eisenmann) Clauss . He played basketball and was salutatorian at Gilboa High School graduating in 1946.

Mr. Clauss was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.

His marriage was to Wilma Conder on November 7, 1953 in Meadow Lake Presbyterian Church of Wolcott; she survives. The couple met in 4-H and were married 63 years.

He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and was a proud 50 year member of the Wolcott American Legion. He also served on the Tri-County School Board for 4 years. Mr. Clauss was a founding committee member of the Wolcott Summer Festival.

Mr. Clauss retired as owner/operator of Sandridge Machinery Sales selling used farm equipment in Wolcott. Prior to that he worked for Smart's John Deere of Wolcott, Trojan seed sales and for Ralston Purina for 18 years. Paul was an auctioneer of 50 years.

During retirement he enjoyed refinishing furniture, playing cards, gardening, traveling and was involved in community activities including the White County Food Pantry for over 17 years.

Surviving with his wife are their children, Cyndy Clauss (Neal Houze) of West Lafayette, Lynn Hunt (Dan) of Idaville, Karen Hood (Bradley) of Battle Ground, Jon Clauss (Shelley) of Fort Worth, TX and Kevin Clauss (D. Max Maccheyne) of Montour Falls, NY. Paul loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, Richard, Laura, Carrie, Jill, Karley, Annalyse, Braden, Kara, Naomi-Susan, Caitlin, Jeremy and Colin and his great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Evan, Taylor, Riley, Jack, Rachel, Caleb, Jacob, Lucus, Netanel and Hila.

Preceding him in death with his parents are two brothers, Robert and Marvin Clauss.

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Remington Apostolic Christian Church (16448 US 231 Remington, IN); with church ministers officiating. Interment to follow in Meadow Lake Cemetery, Wolcott.

Memorials may be made to the White County Food Pantry.

I just today learned of Paul's passing. I have the names of 10 or 12 men I have known one way or another tucked in the back of my mind that I wish I could be more like & Paul Clauss is on that list.
