Eugene Anderson Obituary

RACINE - Eugene H. 'Gene' Anderson, 72, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, in his sleep on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. A lifetime resident, Eugene was born in Racine on July 5, 1938, to the late Harvey and Leone (nee: Mitchell) Anderson. Shortly after graduating from Washington Park High School, Gene proudly served our country with the United States Army in Hawaii. On May 26, 1962, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Winifred 'Wini' (nee: King) Anderson. Gene was employed for many years at J.I. Case Corporation as a Tool Design Engineer, retiring in 2000. With a profound Christian faith, Gene was a devout member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, where he was active in the Vestry and enjoyed teaching Alpha courses. Among his interests, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, watching the Packers, and was an extremely talented woodworker. Above all, he loved and cherished being together with his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Wini; their daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brian Sorenson; grandsons, Jacob and Wade Sorenson; sisters, Audrey (the late Art) Harmann and Kathy (Jerry) Eppers; brother, Mark (Kay) Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention by name. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 4701 Erie Street, at 3 p.m. with Fr. Terry McGugan officiating. Military Honors and a luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. Private entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Gene, memorials to St. Michael's Church have been suggested. DRAEGER-LANGENDORF FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 4600 County Line Road 552-9000 www.draeger-langendorf.com

Gene and I worked together at the JI Case Company in the early 90's. I was the QA inspector in his machining area. He was a great guy to know and work with. He always kidded me for being a just as a die hard fan of the Chicago Bears and he was about his Packers. I extend my deepest sympathies to his family. I am truly sadden to hear of his passing.

Gene was my dad's best friend (Ron). Now that those two are reunited, I know exactly what they're doing right now: FISHING!! (And yes, like Mike Kinnard so delicately put, probably arguing, too!) You should see the home video footage of those two on their Canada trips--absoulutely priceless! I'm gonna miss you, Gene. Let's play 18 holes when I get there... And I promise I'll try not to step on your cigar at the tee box like my old man always did! HA!

I am so sorry to learn of Gene's passing. He, Ron and Wally were some of the first friends I made when I started at Case in 1998. I am sure that he and Ron are in Heaven arguing about something right now! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Gene will be greatly missed.
