With sympathy to Mrs. Cannon's family. I, too, had the privilege of being taught by Mrs. Cannon in the 70's. She had a great sense of humor, and was intrigued by the constantly changing colors of my nailpolish. I think she especially liked the green-glitter, if memory serves!
Thanks for sharing your mom with so many of us.
She was truly a memorable person and teacher.

My deepest sympathies in the loss of your mother. She was my Creative Writing Teacher at Tosa East in 1975 and she was one of the few teachers in my life that made a difference. She sparked my interest in writing which I still have today. She was a very special person who will be missed.

I was a student of Mrs. Cannon's from 1974 -1976. I was an opinionated teenage and an even more opinionated writer. Despite that she was one of the most supportive adults in my life at the time. As my own daughter is finishing up college majoring in creative writing, I can only hope she was lucky enough to have a teacher like Mrs. C. I have saved most of my work from those years and on each and every paper or journal entry is a remark from her encouraging me to dig a little deeper or a compliment when I had proactively done so. I'm sure she is reading all our remarks and smiling right now because some us are still writing in most part due to the time we spent in her classroom a long time ago.

Dear Peter and the Cannon Family,
Your dear Mom was an amazing spark at Wauwatosa East, and clearly your own notes tell that she was a bright light in all your lives. I'm so thankful that she taught me Creative Writing and a love of life. I'm so sorry for your loss, but so grateful that she crossed our paths. God Bless You "Aunt Jane"

My sympathy to the Cannon family for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was a student of Mrs. Cannon's from 1975-1977, and worked as a reporter and Editor for the student newspaper, the Cardinal News, that she supervised. We spent many afternoons together putting the paper together, and I learned a lot from Mrs. Cannon, and had a great time with her. More than that, she was a special teacher that provided me some needed support to me during my high school years, which were difficult due to a family situation. I turned to Mrs. Cannon as a trusted adult to talk to about this, and she was wonderful in the support she gave me. I will never, ever, forget that gift. Several months ago I went to visit Mrs. Cannon with a friend of mine. We had a wonderful afternoon together. Again, please accept my thoughts and prayers on the passing of this great lady. As a junior at Wauwatosa East high school, Jane Cannon helped me find my voice as a writer. Her firm, funny guidance help me and co-editor, Tim McBride, crank out our school's weekly newspaper, the Cardinal News in 1976-77. Last year McBride and I had the honor of meeting with our fearless leader to thank her for the tremendous influence she had in our lives then--by introducing us to the Greek Tragedies and great literature while loving teenagers--and as professionals today. Thank you again Mrs Cannon and good bye.

Please accept my warmest condolances in the loss of a fabulous lady. In the short time I knew her I came to love her. Her sharp wit was second to none. My only regret is not having known her sooner. It was my pleaure and a special privilege to care for her. I shall miss you dear friend.

My Aunt Jane loved life. She took a very personal interest in those she knew - she always asked questions that required more than a yes or a no. She had a quick wit and a discerning mind and a powerful memory. I will miss her.
