I had the pleasure of meeting John as we both captured the excitement of the Patrick Cudahy fire. He had a gruff almost intimidating voice when he asked "Who do ya shoot for?" We talked about photography and he invited me to enroll in his course at UWM, which I had the honor of doing. I loved hearing his stories about his travels and different people he would meet and am honored to have met and learned from such a great soul. Rest in peace, John.

I met John at the Milwaukee Highland Games ca. 1996. My fondest memory of him was when I was invited to hang out with him and many musicians after Irish Fest on the balcony of a hotel. There was rich conversation while the musicians played their instruments. I loved that he was kind of edgy. He was also a sweetheart. I will miss him, but I am thankful to have known him.

John, you were a true friend of the family. Thanks for getting the Sandy & Marion Todd award ready for the Highland Games each year. I always enjoyed seeing you at Irish Fest and my Mom's house on 13th St. And thanks for some great family photos!

I will always treasure John's friendship and encouragement. I was honored to be at his hospital bedside when he went to the Light. I told him at that time--"You'd better not haunt me!" I knew he would laugh at that. I'll miss our lunches and the way he ended his phone calls--"Talk at you later." We'll see you on the other side, John.

John you were ALWAYS larger than life to me, your cousin. Thank you for being a mentor and role model to me and so many others in your lifetime--relatives, coworkers, students and friends. May God bless us with once again being in one another's presence some day. Until then, know that you will be missed always by many, many friends and relatives. I am blessed to have had you for my cousin and my friend!

The Usual Suspects at the coffee shop miss you, John. We counted on on you to be there, and you were, every morning, in the same booth at the same time. Your stories, your adventures, your photographs and the way you ordered breakfast were the stuff of legend. RIP my friend.
