Charlotte Katona Obituary

Katona, Charlotte M. (Nee TenPas) Went to be with the Lord February 13, 2010 to join Joseph her husband of 59 years. She was born March 1, 1924 in Cedar Grove, WI and was one of seven children. Charlotte attended Marquette University for her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Nursing and was proud of her 53 years of nursing service. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wisconsin in various roles for 25 years and as Vice President of Nursing at St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee for 11 years. In 1981 Charlotte and Joseph moved to Sun City, Arizona when Charlotte accepted the position of Vice President of Nursing at St. Luke's Medical Center Phoenix, AZ. She retired in 1987. Charlotte valued her professional activities with the American Nurses Association; Wisconsin and Arizona Nurses Association; Sigma Theta Tau; and the Arizona Association of University Women. She enjoyed family, friends, travel, golf, her Dutch heritage, homemaking, and church activities. Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, two brothers Kenneth and Warren, and one sister Carol. She is survived by brother Paul and sisters; LaVonne and Mary, two stepchildren; Sandra (John) Clair and Darryl (Jennifer) Katona, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial service 1:00PM, Monday, February 22, 2010 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351. Arrangements entrusted to advantage Golden Door Chapel, Youngtown, AZ. Contributions may be made to the church.
