William Berndt Obituary

Berndt, William J. Age 91, passed away peacefully in Louisville, KY, surrounded by loved ones, on February 28, 2013. Bill was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 2, 1921 to Eleonora and William, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Barsch. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign as a Carpenter's Lieutenant. Upon returning to the states, he worked at Seisel Construction Company, taking great pride in the many hospitals and college facilities he built throughout the Milwaukee area until his retirement in 1983. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack, and his beloved daughter, Barbara Serbu (Steve). Bill is reunited with his golf foursome, Gordy, Wally, and Bob for eternal rounds in paradise. He took great joy in fishing and vacationing in Florida with his friends. In his free time, Bill loved tinkering and hand crafts, skillfully carving many cherished duck decoys. He was an avid fan of Packers football and Brewers baseball. Visitation for Bill will be at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI, on Thursday, March 7 from 4 PM to 6 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Friday at St. Dominic Catholic Church 18255 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI. Enjoy your happy memories of your Dad. I always enjoyed his visits to Sheboygan. It would be wonderful to come to see you girls and talk about times past, but it is not to be. I can no longer travel and do things that I would love to do. So lift one for me and know that I love you all. Betty Steil
