After my late wife Carolyn Hobbs Peterson encouraged me to enter a race, Glenn was the first person at that race who gave me some advice. Then, many years later, he was on my Ski to Sea Team the last time that race was held, and, while being the oldest team in the race, we came in 2nd overall, BY SIX SECONDS out of 1st place -- largely due to Glenn's amazing running and skiing ability!

Glenn (2 "n"s, please) is someone I often think about as I reminisce about my running days. As I mentioned earlier, he was on my Ski to Sea team in 1999, the last year that that race was held. Thanks largely to him, we came in 2nd overall, 6 seconds out of 1st place! It was a pleasure knowing and running with him (although he was at a MUCH higher level of running than I was). I'm sorry that I will be out of town when this June 21, 2019 ceremony will be held at Eaglecrest.

Glenn, I know you are up in heaven with my parents. You and my dad are probably telling your stories where you left off. I remember the funny part of you and times I was able to spend with all of you. I know how your family misses you so much. Glad to have thought of you as a cousin.

I have a story. Many many years ago, in the early 1990's I was a long distance runner. My beloved Dalmatian, Decimal, and I were out for our daily run to the Mendenhall Glacier when I heard footsteps behind us. Runners don't like to look behind them, so I pretended to get my hair out of my face and saw Glenn and three of his running buddies. They saw me, and their pace increased. I was the rabbit. I started running as fast as I could. Runners don't like to be caught! They reached me in about 7 minutes. They slowed down when they reached me and told me I gave them a good run for their money, but I was still running at my top speed!! After a few minutes of chatting, I said "this is my turn" and veered off onto a side street. It was NOT my street, but I could not sustain the fast pace any longer! Glenn was always courteous, compassionate, encouraging and friendly to me...a much lesser athlete than he! I can still see the smile in his eyes. My condolences on your loss.

Seeing Glenn every year at the Klondike Relay was always one of the highlights of the trip. I haven't seen him in years but still think of him often.

To the entire Frick family: Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I pray that you all find peace during this difficult time.
Mr. Frick - I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have you as my Baseball Manager back in the 80's, and to be a teammate with Jeff. You taught us all to work hard, be disciplined and to have your teammates back at all times. These are principles I have been able to take with me and apply to my personal and work life. I appreciate all you did for me and all you taught me about baseball and how it applies to life. Keep watch over your wonderful family.
To Mrs. Frick, Sandra, Debbie, Denny, Kenny and especially Jeff, God Bless you all.

I met Glenn when we coached Juneau Little League in the 1970s. His teams were always great in the competition and always well coached with great attitudes. We created the eight-year old league, which was a great teaching league, using the pitching machines in games. The kids rapidly improved during those seasons. Thanx Glenn, for your contribution to the growth and well-being of youth--Ron Silva

Glenn was present, serving as a role model, for my first distance races, when I started running in my early 40's. And he was on my Ski to Sea team in 1999, the last time that event was held. Thanks largely to Glenn, we came in 2nd overall -- missing 1st by six seconds. He was an amazing athlete and an inspiration to hundreds of us in Juneau. We'll miss him!! Best wishes to his family.

Glenn,
There are souls that infuse us with such unique and inspiring views of life. You were that and much more to me and others. Back in the day, I looked forward to countless Taku Striders and DSRC training runs more than ever, just knowing you were going to be there. The hours became like minutes. Those first couple of Klondikes, starting a few races that are still happening today...you were always there when someone needed a real friend. My love of running would not have happened if it were not for you, Glenn. You and Julie were like a second family to me. Your home, the host home for so many gatherings. My, did we have some fun! We will see you on the trail in heaven, with your effortless stride, that dry sense of humor, a verbal prodding (and sometimes non-verbal!) that made us all run a little harder to make you proud of ourselves and our accomplishments. I love you, brother. Julie, Glenn was the most authentic person I've ever met and I will miss him like a brother.
