Vernon will truely be missed. We at the Kansas Museum of Military History (in Augusta) had the honor of having Vernon come and participate in our parade and open house two years ago. Our theme was honoring Kansas Ex-POW's. Vernon was kind enough to share his story of his military experiences as a POW with the public and especially the younger generation. Vernon sacrificed so much for the protection of our country, and we consider ourselves lucky to have known Vernon. God bless you Vernon and your family, our prayers go out to you.
