KENNETH DALE MATNEY, SR. Kenneth Dale Matney, Sr., a beloved husband, father, son and brother, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the age of 60. Kenneth was born the son of Donald and Yvonne (Sanders) Matney on Nov. 11, 1955, in Kansas City, Kan. He graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kan. Kenneth then attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering. He worked in Omaha, Neb.; Dallas, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Oak Ridge, Tenn. His final occupation was as a senior systems programmer and analyst at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Kenneth always worked hard to take care of his family and will be dearly missed. Survivors include loving wife of the home, Mercedita "Mercy" Matney; son, Kenneth Dale Matney, Jr.; daughter, Karen Ann Matney; mother, Yvonne Matney; brother, Jeffrey Matney as well as a loving extended family. Kenneth is preceded in death by his father and sister, Connie Matney. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. both at Maple Hill Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
