Just discovered word of the death of James R. Taff.

Several years ago, I did a radio interview with Jim Taff, Merritt King, and Don Schoo. All three were WW2 hero's in my book. The interview lasted for 1 hour and 17 seconds. My questions guided them to re-live their experiences on the Beaches during the Normandy landing at the beginning of the European invasion. The recording was aired on 90.9FM WDCB Public Radio. We started off with their school years, teens and the day they got drafted. Then as they closed their eyes, listening to my questions I took them back to the beaches with some world War 2 Music, with Vera Lynn, Glenn Miller and others. Just as they had never forgotten their dying comrades on Omaha Beach I too have not forgotten them either. It was my honor to interview them and to broadcast their story on my morning show at the station. Jim and Merritt King have now passed away, but I cannot find Don Schoo as yes. One again guys, you are still alive in my memory and I thank you and your comrades for your commitment to the world, to America. God rest your souls. You were indeed Hero's.

John Burnett, former morning jazz host on 90.9FN WDCB.

Having breakfast alone this morning in Aurora I thought about those guys
