Eugene W. Ingram

1955 - 2015

Eugene W. Ingram, 59, of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital South Shore Campus, with his loving wife, Sherry by his side.

Born in Kenosha on June 2, 1955, he was the son of the late Alvin W. and Betty L. (Luitze) Ingram.

Gene was a graduate of Zion Benton High School. He was united in marriage to Sherry Pace on July 9, 1983, at Gene's parents' home in Russell, Ill.

He was a member of the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 for over thirty years. He was employed as an underground utility construction foreman.

Gene was a member of Trinity Christian Center in Zion, Ill. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his son, Jason L. (Danielle) Ingram; his grandchildren, Gavin and Ava Ingram; and his grand dog, Howie and those he considered his special family; his niece, Stephanie (Brian) King, his father-in-law, Oldridge Pace: his wife's siblings, Linda (Steve) Poland, Vic (Denise) Pace, Rick (Mary) Pace, and Jerry (Janice) Pace, and the "daughter of his heart", Bailey Heredia Hassett.

Gene is further survived by his siblings, Vicky (Richard) Byrd and Woodrow (Regina) Ingram.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Iva Pace and a brother-in-law Jerry Pace.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will take place on Monday, March 2, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In life people come & go. Sometimes there's one who goes but stays present in your thoughts. Remaining in your life no matter how many years pass. This is Gene in my life. I so love this gentle giant & giant isn't referring to his physic giant refers to his heart, kindness, charity, down to earth nature, strength in rights & strength to make wrongs right, courage, empathy,patience, determination & a soft side of warmth love compassion genuine to the core giant. I will continue to miss him love him & remember him the rest of my life. I am so grateful for his life his family loving him & his love for his family. I will see you again someday my friend. Please hug our dads up there & once in awhile check in on me. May your family be strong in peace & may memories fill the void. Goodbye dear friend.
