Well, it's been a year since we lost Kelly. And I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I haven't thought about her and the contribution she made to this world. She was a bright shining ball of light and laughter. And I just wanted to let those people who loved her most know that she hasn't been forgotten and never will be.

Just wanted to let you know that Kelly's name will be on my T-shirt this weekend as I walk the track at our Thousand Oaks Relay For Life event. Her name has been on my shirt, on my luminaria bag, and in my heart each year our family has been involved...and she will always remain in my heart and my prayers. Kelly, you will never be forgotten. Love, Tricia Bartolomei ("Mrs. Bart"- Kelly's teacher at La Reina High School)

I am so saddened to hear about the loss of such a lovely young woman. I still remember Kelly well when I taught her at La Reina. Her kindness and beautiful nature affected us all. She will be sorely missed by all her loved ones.
My daughters and I are deeply involved in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Conejo Valley since we too have lost several family members to cancer, and I will be wearing Kelly's name on my shirt this August in her memory. It just seems all so unfair to lose someone so vital and young. May she rest gently in the arms of the angels. With great sorrow and sympathy for her whole family, Tricia Bartolomei (Mrs. Bart)

Matt, Ari, Erin, Michael, Maddie, Chuck, Sue, and Kandyce- Like many La Reina girls, I have vivid memories of Kelly's ever-present smile in the hallways, her sense of humor, and even her pride in serving as a flower girl in our graduation ceremony. To learn that she grew up and became such an incredible woman is an absolute gift, but to learn that precisely because her light has moved on is heartbreaking. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I can only imagine your profound grief, but I share that grief too, with all of you. I am so very sorry that you are suffering because of this terrible premature loss. The thing is, it seems to me that the world needs more people like Kelly. May her memory be eternal.

I am tremendously shocked and saddened to hear about Kelly's death. I remember so fondly the many happy times I spent in your family home in California and what a tremendous family you were--so much joy, good humor and laughter. I have read the comments here and other online postings about Kelly and it is clear that she became an amazing young woman who gave this world and her family so much. I am so deeply sorry for this unfathomable loss.

I will always think of Kelly as a powerfully pure, strong, and loving presence, and a kind, beautiful, smart, and talented woman. Her strength was absolutely remarkable, and I am grateful to have been her friend. She is so very missed. I will miss sharing mothering stories with her and her sense of humor. I send lots of love to her entire family and especially to beautiful Ari.

Kelly was a true light, always ready with energetic smile and with her vibrant humor. I honestly cannot remember a day when she wasn't smiling and laughing, even when not everything was going her way. I knew Kelly in graduate school, but I've thought of her often over the years, and I loved hearing about all the cool projects she was involved with and just to know that Kelly was still being the fabulous Kelly in Lexington! I'm comforted but completely unsurprised that she was surrounded by people who loved her dearly to the last. Matt and Ari, and Kelly's family, so many good thoughts to you. I'm sorry, and I'm thinking of you. Kelly has made an impression on so many of us . . . my deepest sympathies.

Life is so precious and the loss of Kelly at such a young age is a terrible tragedy. As a friend of Kelly's Dad, I know first-hand how proud he is of Kelly and the pain the family now must endure with this loss. May the precious gift she has left to her family and Matt... Ari... bring back joy over time and allow her spirit to be present always. My deepest condolences.

Matt, Ari, Kelly's Devoted Parents, Family, and Friends -- Our hearts are breaking here in Colorado. Please know that for those of us who cannot be with you in person, we are with you in spirit. In our thoughts and prayers, we walk alongside you as you traverse this difficult terrain. I will remember Kelly for the exceptional college teacher that she was. She took me well past the end of this 30-lesson semester, giving me clarity in The 31st Lesson. That lesson is not only about how to live fully but how to continue the teaching and the learning even after the artificial ends of things like semesters and perhaps even our mortal lives. Through Kelly, our learning continues. Rest assured, Kelly still teaches!
