Just this week I remembered Mike when another Centre graduate who is a friend of mine told me his daughter was a freshman at Centre. I suggested they check out Mike´s basketball career and statistics when he played for Centre. I bet he still holds some records!

Mattie,I just saw that Mike passed away! My condolences to the entire family. You may not remember me, but we had lunch before you left mike's 50 year reunion! Mike always my dearest friend even though we never saw much of each other! We played ball together at Taft, and rode to school everyday in my old ford or his old blue Plymouth! We ran around together all thru high school. I know we will all miss him ! A part of my heart hurts tonight for dear friend.Tom klingel

My sisters Peggy Voss Johnson, Patty Voss, and I spent our childhood on the same block with Mike and his sister Jana. We have wonderful memories of Mike's exuberant personality and love of life as a kid who was our friend and playmate. He was a star at kick-the-can among other things! His life was certainly well-lived for his family and others and he clearly carried that exuberance and love of life forward that we saw in him on Gamble Avenue in Cincinnati.

I was posting some pictures of the old Gamble Avenue neighbors on Facebook, and one of them was of Jeanette, my mom Rosaleen and all the neighborhood kids in front of the Marks's house. But I didn't see Mike. So I googled him and found this sad news. He was my sister Peggy's first boyfriend and our families were very close. I last saw Mike 17 years ago on my Dad's 80 th birthday we celebrated in Lexington. What a great guy! And so much like his dad.. His family is in my thoughts at this difficult time of loss.

What laughter and joy he brought to those around him! My deceased husband, Julian Palmer and Mike were very close friends and played basketball together at Center.

Jana and Mike's family:
I knew Mike in High School and I am in shock! What a picture! He still had that beautiful smile.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and know that he is in God's hands. No better place to be.

Classmate, two years ahead of Mike at Centre College. Was a basketball manager for team and really enjoyed knowing him. He had a great personality, very good basketball player who helped Centre go to there first NCAA basketball tournament. He was very skinny back then so he got pushed around some but was still a good rebounder and shooter. Always had hoped to see him once again. My condolences to his family.

I knew Mike in college, and through Janna (my roomie Jr. year) always knew what he was up to. He was a memorable guy, what a sense of humor. You are in my thoughts as you face the days to come. God speed, Mike!

I was his secretary at First National Bank years ago. He was such a good boss and I thought so much of him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

In 1969 at WCHS - Mr. Marks taught me senior English - made me manager of the basketball team (I tried out but wasn't big or good enough - yet he still made me a part of the team - so nice) , and coached me on the golf team. He was always laughing and teasing - showed me how to tie the perfect tie (length and knot)on a bus to an away bball game. His energy was contagious - even though I have not spoken to him since I graduated - whenever I think of him - so many good feelings well up in me. I want to thank him for the lasting impressions he made on me.
