Rest well Bro. Scandrick , Our music master & first travel agent. First class all the way. Every little detail addressed before boarding the bus. There was always a "mystery" tour included to make the trips most enjoyable. He introduced us to beautiful spiritual music, traveled to many churches to worshiped. A no nonsense man., will surely Be missed.

To the family, so difficult to find the words to say. May God be with you at this time and in the days ahead. The classmates of Austin 56 will miss him and his enthusiasm often driving from Nashville to attend the class. Our families were connected through friendship and work and I still have the plant he sent to me when my father passed in 1995. RIP my brother. My prayers & condolences to the family. Mr. Scandrick is all we knew in the music ministry @ Fifteenth Avenue for the majority of my life. His teachings were the reason why I learned to appreciate hymns, spirituals, anthems & gospel music in the African American church. He will definitely be missed & never be forgotten.

Mr. Scandrick was my Music teacher at Martin Luther King High School. I still remember what a great voice he had and he could really bang on that Piano. I was a difficult student back in those days but he taught me a lot about music. Mr. Scandrick will be missed by many but I'm sure that he is up there playing a piano and singing with other great musicians.

To the family of the late James Scandrick, On behalf of the class of 1998 @ Martin Luther King Magnet High School for the Health Sciences and Engineering we are greatly saddened for this loss. Most , if not all, of us had the pleasure of knowing this great man through his wonderful choral class. ( Even though some of us couldn't sing) He also encouraged us to make lasting friendships and for this, this godly man will be missed. Most importantly he taught his students courage. For this, we will for ever be thankful! Thank you to the family for sharing such a wonderful man!! My deepest regards, Starshemah Fitzgerald ( Vice President, class of 1998

To the Scandrick Family:
So sorry to hear about Mr. James' passing. I will long remember him playing the organ at Payne Avenue Baptist Church. I recently caught up with him during my numerous trips to Nashville. Always such a gentleman. He was very fond of my parents.
He will be missed.

I am a native Knoxvillian, but now live in Nashville. I, as well as other Knoxvillians who live here were very shocked and saddened to hear of the death of our former Austin High School classmate and my fellow musician here in Nashville. His music will long be remembered here as well as his always smiling face and friendly manner. He visited the church that I play for not too very long ago and we kept in touch by phone. I do not know any of his relatives or friends and would like to be contacted by email - [email protected] - by someone in the event that I can be of help in any manner. Rest well , my friend. Condolences to the family and close friends.

As you endure at this difficult time, I hope that you will find comfort in God, the hearer of prayers.
