Phyllis Alley Obituary

1928-2017
Phyllis L. Alley passed away peacefully on May 5, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Otto K. Alley in 1986.
She is survived by daughters Linda (Don) Riley and Cynthia Rock, both of Ellensburg; granddaughter Amelia (Warren) Maxwell; two great granddaughters, Riley and Jocelyn (Seattle) as well as many loyal and caring friends.
Phyllis was born and raised in Puyallup, WA to Emmett and Alfa Radek. She attended cosmetology school, receiving her license in 1961, which was current at the time of her passing.
After marriage to Otto in 1948 she moved to Teanaway Junction to work at the Café Otto, owned with his brother Cyrus and wife Helen.
They moved to Ellensburg in the early 1950's where they resided for the remainder of their lives. Phyllis managed the Band Box Beauty Salon for Lois Rahkonen for many years, purchasing the salon in the early 1970's.
After selling the Band Box and semi-retiring, she enjoyed collecting antique plates, art glass and was able to extensively travel with her daughter Linda. They experienced the beauty and cultures of Europe, Russia and China. She was homeward bound in Paris France on the fateful day of 9/11, what an experience!
A child of the depression era, she believed canned and frozen food never went bad and more was always better.
She was active in the community, a member of the Lutheran Church and was known for her meticulous housekeeping (thanks to Gayle Mothershed), her "get it done now" approach to everything, her weekly hair style, great sense of humor and sharing embellished information (some of it true.)
Phyllis will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family, many friends and many cats (especially Tubba.)
She requested no services and that any donations be made to Friends of Animals, Hospice Friends, or a charity of your choice.
Entombment will be at IOOF Cemetery with a celebration of Life to be held at a future place and date.
