Jay Todd Sloane, known to many as Todd, was born on October 27, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana to James Benjamin and Louise Marie Sloane. Todd went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2014, at the age of 68, after a long battle due to complications from blood cancer and a stem cell transplant. Todd is preceded in death by his brother, Tom; his infant son; his mother, Louise; and his father, Ben. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 45 years; his son, Jeffery and daughter-in-law, Dana; and three grandchildren, Michael, Hannah and Paige Sloane.
Todd was raised in Anderson, Indiana. He met Carol Gibson Sloane at Northeast Missouri State University and they were married in 1969. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1970 and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. The family moved to Kingwood, Texas in 1981 and became members of Kingwood United Methodist Church that year. Todd considered this church his family and was a devoted and faithful member, was head usher of the 8:30 am service and taught adult Sunday school classes. He never wanted to miss a service or his beloved Agape Sunday School class. Todd was in Sales most of his career and was employed by Pollock Investment Corp. Todd loved his work and especially his coworkers and clients.
His passion was for the Prison Missions, Kairos. Todd touched many lives through the sharing of his faith and love for the brothers-in-white at Hightower prison. Todd leaves behind an incredible legacy in his ministry and will be missed by many. We are thankful for his eternal place alongside our Lord, Jesus Christ. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Darst Funeral Home. A Memorial Service to celebrate a life well lived will be 3:00 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 1799 Woodland Hills, Kingwood, TX 77339.
The family is asking that anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory can do so to: Kingwood United Methodist Chruch, Prision Missions (Kairos), 1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77339. Todd was a true friend that I miss greatly. I learned so much from him over the years. I'm so grateful for the time he spent with me. Todd's family should be so proud of the impact he made on so many people. God Bless!!!

Carol,
I just learned today of Todd's death.
Jim and I were 1965 high school classmates and he had emailed me last year hoping that he would make it for our 50th reunion next year. And I lived just around the corner from Todd growing up in Edgewood on Cherry Road. I have fond memories of Todd and he will be missed at our reunion next year and always.
Our condolences to you and your family.

Carol, you and Jeff and family are in my prayers. I am so sad to hear about Todd. I find comfort knowing he is no longer suffering and is enjoying perfect peace with his Lord. Such a special guy. We have so many fond memories of card games and fun together.
Love you!
Lorene and Jim.
